Sewage treatment plant with a roof water problem near Cobham
ASL emptying a sewage treatment plant in Cobham

The engineer’s first job that morning was at 9:00 am, attending a large treatment plant near Cobham to assist the tanker crew while the system was being emptied and to carry out a full inspection.

Once the inspection was complete, the engineer returned to the office to write up the reports and email the findings to the customer, as the information was important and needed sending urgently.

At around 1:30 pm, the engineer headed to the second job of the day on Seven Hills Road, just outside Cobham.

The customer was experiencing problems with her treatment plant. After a quick inspection, the engineer found the treatment plant itself wasn’t at fault. Roof water had been connected into the foul drainage system and was discharging into the treatment plant through a gully. During wet weather, this unnecessary flow was overloading the system.

The immediate problem was resolved by diverting the roof water away from the gully, preventing further rainwater from entering the treatment plant. Before leaving, the engineer explained exactly what had been found and told the customer that ASL would send a written report with its recommendations, allowing her to make an informed choice about the permanent solution.
