Ewell

Darren was on his first call of the day at around 7am in Ewell, Surrey. Darren lives in the area, which means our Guildford office can often allocate his early calls locally and keep travelling time down.

The customer had a blocked drain. Darren cleared the blockage in around 30 minutes, which is fairly normal for a straightforward call-out. He then used his fully charged battery-powered CCTV camera to carry out a complimentary look-see of the drain. No further problems were found and the drain was left clear and running.

While Darren was finishing up, the office contacted him with an emergency: “Go straight away.”

A private sewage system in Effingham had backed up and needed urgent attention. Based on the information sent to his phone, Darren immediately contacted the office and confirmed that a sewage tanker with additional fresh water would be needed.

Darren arrived in Effingham. By a combination of good timing and teamwork, the Guildford office had already diverted one of our tankers, which was waiting for him when he arrived.

Using the tanker’s powerful washdown and high-pressure water equipment, delivering around 12 gallons of water per minute, the blockage and accumulated waste could be flushed back towards the tank. At the same time, the tanker’s powerful suction removed the sewage and contaminated water rather than simply moving the problem further along the system.

The system was cleaned, cleared and left operational.

A full report was provided explaining what we had found, together with our recommendations, so the customer could understand the cause of the problem and make an informed decision about any further work.

It was a good example of why having local drainage engineers, our own sewage tankers and a Guildford office coordinating the work can make such a difference when an ordinary call-out suddenly becomes an emergency.
