Danny and his mate attended a property in Slough where there was a serious problem with surface water getting underneath the house.
When they investigated, they were amazed at just how much water they could see entering the drain leading to the private sewage treatment plant. Water was dripping and running into the pipe where it simply should not have been.
The problem was being made worse by the soakaway at the rear of the property. This was taking surface water and roof water, but it was inadequate and too small for the amount of water it was expected to handle. Consequently, water was finding another route and flooding underneath the house.
This is particularly important where a property has a private sewage treatment plant. Too much rainwater, roof water or surface water entering the foul drainage system can overwhelm the treatment process, pushing sewage and waste into the wrong chambers and eventually causing disruption, overfilling and smells.
Once we had identified where the unwanted water was entering the system, the drain beneath the house was completely sealed using a structural liner. This provided a repair without having to excavate through the property.
The customer could now clearly see what was causing the problem and why simply emptying the treatment plant would not have provided a permanent solution.
