When it comes to determining the condition of your drains, whether this is due to smells you are experiencing, reoccurring blockages or just peace of mind, a drainage survey will highlight any defects within your drainage systems.

If you call us out for an unblock, we will survey the affected line once cleared to determine the condition of the pipework and to establish if there are any defects that may be a contributing factor to the drain blocking. This is an essential part of the service to providing you with a solution to prevent the drain from re-blocking. We call this a basic “look see” inspection.

If you opt for one of our comprehensive surveys, we will inspect the drains via any accessible points and map the drainage layout on a schematic diagram (not scaled / CAD). This will provide you with a reference as to where the drains are situated and where they discharge to. This is especially useful when you are looking to carry out any building works or renovations as this provides you with an understanding of your drainage layout and will allow you to make any adjustments within your planning provisions.

On completion of our comprehensive drainage survey, you will be provided with a report detailing our findings, along with an estimate for any works that maybe required to get your drains working to their full potential. Whether a replacement is needed, sealing the drain with a structural liner or maybe just a flush through to clear any adhered waste, grease or debris. You can be rest assured that one of our comprehensive surveys will satisfy your requirements. We can even provide you with a link to view the survey footage so you can review the condition of your drainage system yourself. Please let us know prior to conducting the survey if you would like us to record it for you.

Building Over Existing Drainage and What You Need to Know

Why Do I Need to Think About Underground Drainage?
Building over existing drains or sewage systems can be damaging to pipes, causing them to leak or block. In some cases, this could lead to smells and environmental issues. So, if there is an existing drain below or close to your building project, it may need to be moved or protected. If the drain in question is a shared / public sewer, you may also require a buildover agreement from your local water authority.

If you cannot find the location of the underground drains yourself, our team at ASL can carry out a CCTV drainage survey for you, equipped with sondes which emits a radio frequency that can be traced from above ground, we can locate the exact location of the pipe. This is also especially useful when needing to identify an exact location of a defect or obstruction within the line.

If you are still unsure whether a survey would benefit you, contact our office and speak to one of our friendly staff who will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have.
