Blocked Drains and the Environment
Why a Blocked drain engineer might not report issues for a variety of reasons, including lack of awareness of reporting procedures, fear of repercussions, pressure to meet deadlines, not recognising the severity of the problem.
Let’s chat about the importance of taking care of our environment and the effects of our actions.

Take, for instance, the issue of clogged drains. One new customer has been using the same person to unblock the drains for the past ten years, and it’s a recurring problem.
Customer explains
“He comes around, but it’s only the third time of asking before he finally gets the job done”. And let’s not forget about the excuses he’s given us over the years - headaches, colds, you name it. It’s frustrating because he thinks he knows the solution, but he’s not taking the initiative to fix it." (This particular problem has now been fixed by our ASL experts and it only took two hours).
Now, I’m not saying we should be perfect. We all make mistakes, but we can learn from them and take responsibility for our actions. The homeowner is often unhappy with the situation and asks for help, but we need to listen to the concerns and find a solution. We can’t just blame him or the environment for our problems. We need to work together to find a solution that works for everyone. Remember, our actions have a big impact on our environment. We can’t just let things go and expect someone else to clean up after us. We need to be responsible and take care of our planet.

Working together can make a difference and create a cleaner, healthier world for everyone.
One promising sign is that people are genuinely interested in doing what's best to protect the environment. Even passionate debates can be productive if they’re all about finding the truth.
Our inactions are wreaking havoc on our environment. Global warming is spiralling out of control due to pollution in our rivers and the burning of fossil fuels. Greenhouse gases are fueling climate change. We need to shift our perspective and start seeing things from a different angle. We must find innovative solutions, like harnessing solar energy and wind turbines.

We also need to take better care of our drains. If we do, we can safeguard our environment. What we do today can have a profound impact on something or someone. What we flush down our drains and toilets is affecting the environment. Public sewage treatment facilities can’t handle all the extra illegal roof water and surface water resulting in treatment systems not being able to cope so pollution spills in our rivers.

Millions and millions of litres of surface/roof water enter the sewage system every day, which goes against our common law of entering the sewage system through the roof. The water authorities have no alternative during heavy rain, so they dump millions of litres of untreated sewage, including smashed bits of tiny plastic, into rivers every time it rains.
Maybe we should ask ourselves what we can do from now on, what we can do today to protect and help the water authorities protect our environment.
